Favors and Aminu Lottery Picks ![]() Favors (r) and Aminu (l) were both NBA Lottery picks in the 2010 NBA Draft Last night during the 2010 NBA Draft the dreams of several young men to get drafted into the league came true, especially for three young men from the Metro Atlanta area, Derrick Favors (Georgia Tech/South Atlanta H.S.), Al-Farouq Aminu (Wake Forest/Norcross H.S.) and Gani Lawal (Georgia Tech/Norcross H.S.). ![]() With his 7' wing span Favors flushes this dunk in the state h.s. finals. As excepted John Wall from Kentucky and Evan Turner from Ohio State were the first two Lottery Picks, Wall going first overall to the Washington Wizards then it was Turner going second to the Philadelphia 76er’s. Each of those teams have former 4SHOT Hoops All-State performers from the Metro Atlanta area on their current rosters, Javaris Crittenton (Georgia Tech/Southwest Atlanta Christian Academy) on the Wizards roster, Louis Williams (South Gwinnett High School) and Jodie Meeks (Kentucky/Norcross H.S.) are on the 76er’s roster. The drafting of Wall and Turner will have some affect on their future status with their teams There had been a lot of speculation as to who the New Jersey Nets where going to select with the third pick, Favors or Kentucky’s DeMarcus Cousins so they answered that real quick when they had every house hold in South Atlanta jumping with the selection of Favors. A 6-10 power forward Favors looks to team up with 7-0 center Brook Lopez; together the two should form one of the best young front courts in the league. Midway through the second round with the 47th pick the Phoenix Suns selected the second Georgia Tech and former orcross High School player in 6-9 power forward Gani Lawal. With speculation that All-Pro Amare Stoudemire probably testing the free-agent market this could be a really good fit for Lawal.
In 2007 Lawal and Aminu teamed up with Jodie Meeks to lead Norcross to the 5A State Championship and in 2009 Aminu led the Blue Devils to another 5A state title. As a senior Aminu was also named Georgia’s Mr. Basketball as well as the 4SHOT Hoops “Player of the Year”. 4SHOT Hoops couldn’t be more proud of these young men, CONRAGTULATIONS and may GOD continue to shower his blessing on you and your families. |
