2009 SEBA Atlanta H.S. Hoop Festival Warriors stymie Trojans Lassiter misses last second shot Cobb Civic Center - Marietta, GA
 North Cobb's Jalen Clark drives past Lassiter's Niles Clark.
North Cobb’s 6-5 junior Darren Waller got off to a slow start scoring but in the end when it counted he picked up his game and the Warriors as they held off a gutsy Lassiter squad.
 Darren Waller battles Lassiter's Niles Clark and Zach Gray for postion. North Cobb’s quickness and athleticism helped them take the early lead but Lassiter would slow down the pace of the game and tie the score at 12-12 at the end of the first quarter. The game would continue at a snails pace in the second quarter and at the half North Cobb held a 22-21 lead.
North Cobb came out in the third quarter with the express purpose of speeding up the game and did so as their guards Jalen Clark, Melvin Weems and Wayne Brown pushed the ball up the floor for a few easy baskets.
The Warriors also turned up the defensive pressure on the Lassiter guards forcing them into some timely turnovers. Waller and 6-6 John Smith started cleaning up the glass as the lead grew to eleven, 36-25 at the end of the third quarter.
In the forth quarter the Trojans mounted a big comeback behind the play of sophomore Niles Clark who scored 10 points in the quarter. With less than 4:00 minutes to play Lassiter’s Joey Perry would hit a three-pointer to cut the North Cobb lead to 40-38.
A North Cobb turnover a few seconds later would led to a pair of free-throws by Clark that tied the game at 40 - 40. Clark; one of the few players who could match up athletically with the Warriors continued to pressure the North Cobb guard’s forcing another turnover.
Clark's two free throws with less than 3:00 minutes to play gave the Trojans their first lead of the game 43-41.
Back-to-back charging calls against Lassiter were turned into 6 North Cobb free-throws and a 49-43 lead with 1:24 to play. The continued to battle back; a questionable technical foul on John Smith for hanging on the rim resulted in a free-throw by Lassiter’s Dlyan Frazier that cut the lead to 49-48 with :36 seconds left and the ball out.
Frazier would miss a last second shot attempt that would have given the Trojans the victory; North Cobb rebound the missed shot, Clark would seal the victory with a free-throw.
Darren Waller was named the games MVP for North Cobb while Niles Clark garnered the same honors for Lassiter.
The Final Score: North Cobb 50 - Lassiter 48
Scoring Recap: North Cobb: Darren Waller scored 14 to lead the Warriors and Johns Smith 8. Melvin Weems and Jalen Clark each finished with 7.
Lassiter: Niles Clark scored a game high 16 for the Trojans. Joey Perry finished with 9 and Ryan Deveikis chipped in with 8.
